outdoor sculpture

The outdoor sculpture team is the largest department at Preservation Arts and maintains artwork for numerous private and public and city collections. Each project requires large teams, including several conservators and conservation technicians who are OSHA trained to operate specialized equipment like booms and scissor-lifts. The outdoor team works both onsite and in studio to treat outdoor sculptures and public art, and can provide and project manage a wide range of complex treatments including welding, monumental structural repairs, and industrial paint finishing, working with trusted partners on complex or large scale projects.

In addition to important historical sculptures and monuments made of bronze, stone, and marble, Preservation Arts has expertise in outdoor collections that include modern and contemporary objects, often made of stainless steel, weathering steel, ceramics, painted fiberglass, patinated bronze, limestone, granite, marble, painted sculpture, polished bronze, neon, or LED light installations. Works installed outdoors, being exposed to the elements of sun, wind, precipitation, pollution, as well as pests and vandalism, require varying levels of intervention, logistics, and equipment to treat.
